PE MUSEUM (BAYWORLD)

The department of sports, recreation, arts and culture provided funds to revitalize the Bayworld Complex.

During this project, the funds were allocated to adding two new exhibits, upgrading existing exhibits, improve the quality of life for the living animals and general maintenance items.

This included work on the Oceanarium, snake park and No. 7 Castel Hill museum. The project was completed in 2013 at a value of R8 102 628.38.

ALGOA BARRACKS

The building is occupied by the Prince Alfred’s Guard Combat Readiness Wing for the purpose of lodging and storage of military equipment.

This building is located in Municipality Street in the historical part of Port Elizabeth. The project involved basic restoration of the existing facilities as well as making the necessary changes in order to accommodate modern-day demands placed on the building.

The client was the National Department of Public Works. The project was completed in 2013 at a value of R5 444 266.07

QUEST SCHOOL

Quest School is a school for learners with Autism, situated on the corner of Randal and Hoy Street in South End, Port Elizabeth (formerly known as Cunningham School).

The project was initiated by the Department of Public Works in conjunction with the Department of Education in 2006. The original project brief called for a new hostel as well as renovations to the existing school.

The existing school is a historically sensitive building and as such the new hostel and classrooms’ design was in keeping with the historical nature of the existing buildings.
